Capability is the power, capacity, potential or faculty to achieve one or more outcomes. Assurance is to have confidence, certainty or trust in an entity or outcome. People, organizations, and mechanisms perform functions and tasks to achieve these outcomes. Groups use capabilities to perform these functions and tasks. People, processes, tools, and knowledge form capabilities. Gaps in people, processes, tools and knowledge impede outcomes. Therefore, gaps are problems for an organization. Problems that need a solution. Capability Assurance is solving the right problem.
