Definition of an Organization?

An organization is any group formed to achieve a desired result or outcome. Products, profits, social change, national security, and services are all outcomes.  Groups perform functions and tasks to achieve these outcomes.  Groups use capabilities to perform these functions and tasks.  People, processes, tools, and knowledge form capabilities. Gaps in people, processes, tools and knowledge impede outcomes. Therefore, gaps are problems for an organization. Problems that need a solution. Capability Assurance is solving the right problem.
